Darby Junior High School cheerleaders earned first-place honors in 7A Division competition at two recent state cheer classics. Darby cheerleaders beat the odds by earning first-place championships for the second year in a row at the AACA Cheer Classic Nov. 12 at Mayflower and Dec. 10 at the Northeast Arkansas Classic at Paragould. At Mayflower, in addition to winning the championship title, the cheer squad won several competitive awards: Best Cheer of the Day, Jump Competition and Best Stunt. Shykira Sampson won the Jump Competition; AnnMarie Diaz, Angelia Christian, Shameila Jones and Shykira Sampson won the Stunt Competition. The team demonstrated their competitive skills, once again, at the AACA Cheer Classic at Paragould. Besides earning the top division title, the squad won the Best Cheer award and Best Choreography award. Aaliyah Huff, Shameila Jones and Angelia Christian placed third in the Tough Woman Stunt Competition. The Darby Cheer earned its second consecutive invitation to compete at the Best of the Best Meet for Junior Highs slated for Dec. 13 in Hot Springs. Darby Cheer Squad members are: Jocelyn Ayala, Angelia Christian, Jomara Cordero, AnnMarie Diaz, Aaliyah Huff, Xandria Hutson, Molly Johnson, Shameila Jones, Caroline King, Isabella Pope, Makyra Robinson, Shykira Sampson and Dede Swinson. Managers are: Jayla Alston, Deysy Esquivel and Taryn Presson....
